High Deducible Ohio Health Insurance Plans
High deductible Ohio health insurance plans are growing in popularity. And why not? The rate is affordable (often half the cost of a typical policy), preventative coverage covered, and there is generally NO out of pocket expense after the deductible has been met.
What is a High Deducible” Plan?
A “High Deductible” health insurance plan is a policy with substantially lower premiums that has a higher deductible for major items, such as hospital stays, inpatient or outpatient surgeries and emergency-room expenses. Routine physicals, mammograms and OB/GYN visits are often not subject to the deductible. And prescriptions are usually discounted without having to meet the deductible. An individual or family with very few medical expenses will often benefit by having this type of policy.
Can an HSA be used with a High Deductible Plan?
Many high deductible plans allow you to set up an Ohio HSA (Health Savings Account) which can be used to accumulate tax-free dollars to pay for qualified medical expenses. Your funds can also be used to pay for qualified dental and vision expenses, although those expenses will not apply towards your health insurance deductible. By contributing money into your HSA, you’ll be well-prepared to pay for the occasional hospital stay or other major unexpected medical bill. Most expenses that you have to pay out of pocket will still receive negotiated reductions.
What Ohio Companies offer High Deductible Plans?
All of the major Ohio health insurance companies offer a wide selection of low-priced plans. However, some plans are more competitively priced than others, and some plans also offer a more comprehensive package of coverages than other plans. Some of the more popular high deductible plans are:
Aetna PPO High Deductible plan

United HealthCare HSA plan

Incredible website I enjoyed reading your information about the different Ohio health insurance options.
I think I finally understand what a copay and a deductible is.
I was looking for about a $7000 deductible for the family and Unitedhealthcare seems to have it. Thanks for making things so easy on the site. So far so good.
How high do high deductible plans go? I could use a 10k plan if that is offered. I think I saw United had one and I may apply for that policy.
It seems as if many of the high-deductible plans don”t increase as much as the copay plans. If so, that may be the way to go for me.
High deductible coverage works for me. I”m just deciding if I want a 5k or 10k deductible. I have no medical costs right now so I think I”m leaning towards 10k.
Love your website! Just great information, accurate quotes and nobody bugging me to death! I’m just checking my options for the end of the summer when I need coverage.
It’s nice to know somebody is here in Ohio and has been in the business a while.
I’m looking at the high deductible plans although I want a 10,000 deductible which I realize isn’t too common. I figure I won’t have many claims so I might as well save some big dollars.
I am interested in a catastrophic major medical plan. I saw some plans from Medical Mutual I like that I will discuss with you.
High deductibles are what I am looking for Ed. I’m not sure I want 10,000, but I see that really knocks the rate down. Looking forward to your feedback.
